Thou shalt not..
February 5, 2011
I’m all for carparks having rules and regulations. Such as: thou shalt not park here and thou shalt not drive thy car here if it can be avoided and thou shalt not do burnouts and thou shalt not pick thy nose and thou shalt not get road ragey. But low and behold, this carpark, not only has its own rules and regulations tablet rising high above the bonnets, but it proclaims that the humble bicycle is banned and any one caught defying such an order will be prosecuted. Very, very interesting in this day and age…
Even the multinationals love bikes
February 5, 2011
Stumbled across this cardboard cutout in a bottlo this evening in Kingston. I’d received a tip off that Coca Cola were on the bike train couple of months ago and when I saw it with my own eyes it raised my eyebrows. Positioned almost directly above the cider was a very nice looking red bike that one could probably ride to the beach on in a Coca Cola ad if one was that way inclined with one hand on the handlebars and the other on a nice glass bottle of coke. As I paid for my beverage (not coke), I discovered a pad of paper explaining the situation. Power to the multinationals if they are going to promote bicycles as the new cool.

Beautiful Art Boxes in Hobart
January 31, 2011
Dear whoever painted these boxes. My bike helmet goes off to you. Along with the knitted hoop covers down near Salamanca these are the finest streetscape additions I’ve seen around the traps. More of this and less of crappy grey boxes the better I reckon. Read the rest of this entry »

New bike on the block #1
January 30, 2011
This gorgeous number of two wheeled superiority has been resting near where I park for work. Its a sure sign that bike culture in Hobart may be small, but its growing, ever so steadily that I can’t resist taking photos of such specimens. Congratulations to the owner for choosing a bike with so much flair.

Critical Mass Hobart January 2011
January 30, 2011
Basically I’m speechless. Turned up to ride last friday on the first Critical Mass of 2011 and this thing smote me with its presence. The owner of this bike is surely a fantastic example of someone who takes pride in riding only the most eye pleasing and outstanding bicycles. Hats off to him. If I was to go and buy a new bike today, it would surely look like this. Around 35 riders turned up to a gentle ride around the city. Some folk took an early left turn and ended up at enjoying the evening over a fine beverage 20 minutes before the rest of us. Thats what this is about though I reckon, turn up, say g’day, ride off together and then go our separate ways. See you next month.
