Voting Time Again in Denison
August 18, 2010
Its voting time again. This time for a a rep in Canberra. This role is sure to be a powerful one when it comes to mobilising funding for improving amenity in Denison for bicycle users. I have attended a candidate debate as well as reading through the policy statements and while there is not a huge amount of clarity as to what specifics each candidate offers the non competitive biking world it seems the Greens’ Geoff Couser and Independent Andrew Wilkie are the only genuine movers and shakers in the hot seat. Either way and I think we can look forward to some positive outcomes. Over all, the greens once again have come on top with regards to promises relating to developing bikeways and promoting cycling.

I was going to speak to Geoff at the demonstration the other day but never got around to it. I was going to let him know he has my vote and why, so I’ll do it here if its ok.
I was a first time green voter in the recent state election, for the simple reason the two major parties were completely uninspiring and not worthy of my vote.
So the greens got my vote allmost by default.
I had planned to also vote green in the federal election for the same reasons but now that has changed. After learning of Geoff’s background and ideas for the future, I am very happy to have someone who I think deserves my vote on his own merits and not just as an apathy vote.
So good luck Geoff and also Andrew[for his gambling reform policy which I support]Its refreshing to have to pick between two good candidates instead of picking the best of the worst
